2025 in review - My 5 favorite vkei songs of 2025

Just my 5 favorite songs that I found this year or listened to this year! In no particular order. That's all :)

Challenge: 2025 in Review
Warnings: Nah

Incoherents - Közi

This song makes me feel like I'm in Közi's evil circus and being hypnotized by the Evil Clown™.

Check-In Post - Jan 17th 2026

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What are your crafting goals for 2026?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

2025 in Review - All Songs That Made It In My Top 10

Top 10 listens, that is. I thought there were going to be like 3 vk songs in there but it ended up being half the list. Yupp, I've still got it.

Challenge: 2025 in Review
Warnings: nahhh

#2: Jesus by Laputa (with at least 171 listens)

Comment: The listen count is lowkey inflated because I had to listen to the song repeatedly when I was trying to translate the lyrics. Still haven't uploaded those online... But still, I do really love the song; the whole reason I bothered translating it is because I think it sounds great.

The Friday Five for 16 January 2026

These questions were written by [livejournal.com profile] frieliegh.

1. If you could change one life-changing event in the life of someone important to you, would you?

2. Which do you think is easier to do, being friends for many years, or being life partners for many years?

3. Have you ever walked away from someone you considered a friend?

4. If you had to choose between telling the truth and hurting a friend or lying and making them happy, which would you choose?

5. Which would you rather hear--the truth which will hurt, or the comforting lie?

Copy and paste to your own journal, then reply to this post with a link to your answers. If your journal is private or friends-only, you can post your full answers in the comments below.

If you'd like to suggest questions for a future Friday Five, then do so on DreamWidth or LiveJournal. Old sets that were used have been deleted, so we encourage you to suggest some more!

Challenge #1: 2025 in Review

Hello everyone 👋 I hope you're all settled in and ready for the first challenge! From Friday, January 16th 0:00 ~ Thursday, January 22th 23:59 is our first challenge, 2025 In Review.

For this challenge, I want you to share your visual kei song(s) of last year, whether that be the song with the most plays, the song you liked the most, your favorite song(s) by an artist you discovered in 2025, or what song describes how 2025 felt for you. If it has to do with you and 2025, it's fair game.

Please put the name of the challenge in the entry, whether it be in the subject line or actual content, and tag the post as challenge. The comment should say how the song relates to the theme, and that's it! You're done! Reminder that you can share multiple songs in one entry as long as you use a cut after the first large embed, and that you can do the challenge multiple times (ex. you can share your song with the most listens one day, and then the best song you found last year on another day).

Lastly, the date for the challenge is just a suggestion, and if you're reading this from far in the future and want to do this challenge, you absolutely can. We want to hear what songs you have to share any time :]

Hope you have fun!

Octopus and Quarter Moon

I wanted something a little rough looking to go with this because the octopus is so shiny. Didn't have anything that fit the bill which was the right size, and I wanted to make this a bit longer of a necklace. So I used groups of metal bead ends along with some blue E beads for the ocean angle.

January Challenge (3 of 5)

How did the decluttering of the hobby spaces go? Did you spend time looking for things that could go, move a thing or two, or have a wildly successful week? Or did you work on a different space instead?

For the third week, we are moving on to a work space -- just the one. Unless you have all the energy and all the time, in which case don't let me hold you back. But this was meant to be a gentle challenge to get started on the year. What decluttering a work space might look like

  • moving the cooking equipment you never use out of the kitchen
  • sorting through stuff in a work from home space so you have more space for you
  • looking in the laundry for things that have drifted into corners and become one with the wall.
  • going through the cleaning rag stash and getting it down to Just! One! Bucket! worth (for whatever size of bucket you keep your rags in)
  • throwing out old cleaning equipment--particularly if you have replaced it with one that you use!

Alternatively: keep going with the rest and / or hobby spaces. Get things out of the house!

The Challenge is Coming...

 I promise!

Our volunteers are from all over the world and have lots of different schedules so we can't always guarantee to have it at the same time each time. I know the last one was really late and that has made everyone (me included) nervous, but it is going up today within the next two hours. Thank you for reaching out. ❤️❤️

I buy primroses and pots full of bulbs as soon as they are available, it does so much for my mood to have them where I can see them from the couch. I have daffodils, grape hyacinths, a couple of different hyacinths and these netted irises.

Weekly(ish) check in

How goes the decluttering? Have you shifted anything out of the house? Found something to sort through? Had thoughts on things you can let go of?

Comments open to locals, lurkers, drive by sticky beaks, and anyone I've forgotten to mention.

Congratulations to everyone who has found and/or disposed on any clutter in the last week!

Optional extra, for those doing the low key January challenge: how go the hobby spaces?
